The Best Time to Plant a Tree

· 2 min

One of my favorite quotes is about when the best time is to plant a tree. There are many versions of this quote, but I like the one that says:

“The best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago, and the second best time to plant a tree is right now.”

I bring this up because I am trying to kickstart writing online again.

I actually blogged a lot back in the day and I am pretty sure I have written this post a few times before. I would fire up whatever the new blogging hotness, get it going on the domain I have owned since 2002, and then let it die. Annnnd here we are writing this post again. Planting a tree right now.

Starting again feels kinda dumb to some degree with all of AI slop flying around the Internet. I for sure used the good ol’ Claude to get Hugo setup and running and I am using Zed to write this post, which I might add is filling in all of the URLs and blanks when I feel stuck. I am not going to lie, that is pretty nice. I feel using AI as an editor and to help me not sound like a 5th grader with an oversized crayon writing an essay on why Kubernetes Sucks is a good thing.

I will do my best to actually put the effort into writing posts on this site myself and I will only use AI to edit and improve the content as I go. But trust me, the thoughts and prayers are actually mine, expressed on this blessed site.

Lucky you.
